Installed some cheap Ikea curtains in the great room today. They look pretty good for what they cost - $30 per window, including the hardware. Nothing fancy, but nice looking and should block some sun from heating up the room. Uh, I fogot my camera or I'd've taken a pic for here.

Spaghetti Pie

Hm. Tried a leftover spaghetti pie - eggs, cheese, cooked spaghetti baked in cast iron with mushrooms, tuna and garlic. I didn't get quite the chewy crispy crust on it that I wanted, though - it was just nicely brown and held together when unmolded. Next time I'll use a higher heat (400F) and leave it on the lowest rack of the oven for the entire cooking period.

How to Piss Me Off

Here's how to piss me off over the course of a meal.

1) Before you begin, say you're not hungry
2) Take seconds
3) Complain that the food is too salty
4) Take thirds
5) Complain again that it's too salty
6) Argue over a large crispy top piece of lasagna pasta until I have to insist that they share it by cutting it in half.
7) Lastly, take the crispy top layer of pasta off the remaining lasagna. Almost ALL of it.

Ipod Protector

Found this article about iPod skins (kind of like PDA protectors). Apparently, this one is stronger...

So I ordered it from here. Free shipping (though I'm sure it's included in the price). They've got some cool vids trying scratch an iPod protected (and not protected - blasphemy!) with the skin on it. I like.

No money...

Sooo, it's going to be a really bad credit card bill this month.

Dell has their "Days of Deals" promo on and had 2 things that I've been wanting - a 19" LCD for $250 and a Slingbox for $179.

My trusty old CRT is starting to go (red lines across the screen) and the Slingbox will let me watch TV on my laptop anywhere in the new house (or anywhere with an internet connection). So in that respect, it's almost as cheap as a TV and gets rid of the need for a lot of tedious wiring.

I also spend some money at Home Depot for some blinds (more on that later).

My poor poor credit card.

Every weekend I'm trying to do at least one thing in the house until I"m really ready to move in. This weekend, Lisa helped me hang horizontal blinds in the kitchen. They were a bit of a pain to put up - the instructions were pretty bad and the Home Depot person cut the front trim piece too long, so I had to go back to get it cut down. But now it's up and I've got some privacy in the kitchen (which faces the road). They weren't cheap, but they weren't expensive either. ($70)

Just below are the cheap Ikea curtains that I mentioned a while back. Total cost including rod hardware: $30! I like them, though. They kind of need ironing. I've left them pooled on the floor because I like them that way and I'm too lazy to hem them.

Finally, a shot of my kitchen appliances, totally installed. The counters probably won't remain this clear - I've got to find space for a microwave and my Kitchenaid mixer. That's probably it, though. I like clear countertops.

Pain in the Foot

Owowow. My foot is killing me! I don't know what it is, but it's really hurts!

I shouldn't have gone to work today, should've stayed home and kept off it... it's killing me and i don't want to go to the clinic right now because a) hate doctors and b) hurts to move. Plus, the painkillers are a staircase away and I don't want to worry my parents by yelling for them.

Rats, no painting

I was intending to paint a room this morning at the house. Unfortunately, with my bum foot, that won't be possible :(

Paint's on sale right now at Sherwin Williams, too...

Edit: Meant paint "this weekend"... which I thought earlier today I might be able to do after all, but it looks like I'm lame for the weekend now. Hurting is gone when not walking, but foot is still too swollen to fit in a shoe. Yay for prescription meds, though.

While I'm whining about my foot, I'll also whine about the invitations that I've missed/will be missing this weekend - including one with homemade blueberry muffins!

As I alluded to before, I saw the doctor yesterday, where I got a bunch of pills and creams. Despite hating doctors, by the end of the night I was desperate for one. The pills have done wonders for lessening the pain when walking, anyway. And it was getting a bit tiresome having EVERYONE saying anything that they thought would get me to see a doctor. I got urging, ordering, callousness, reverse psychology, casual mentions, anecdotal reports, sympathy... And even though what it took was excruciating pain, you were all correct, so enjoy it while it lasts.

Blueberry Muffins!

Last night I got the blueberry muffins that I was whining about earlier, thanks to Jen.
They were gooood.

The boardgame, called St. Petersburg, that we played was fun also. Though it was frustrating because I could only get to 2nd place each time!
